Tucker has a buddy!

Since this was Chris’ birthday week (and coincidentally the first anniversary of owning the house), we spent all week NOT working on the house! We ended up still being very busy but it was all non-house related.

Monday night Chris had to work late, Tuesday night was spent taking Tucker to the vet for his shots, Wednesday we drove to Finksburg to pick up our venison, Thursday we went out for Chris’ birthday dinner, and Friday we played volleyball. It was almost like we were living a normal life!

We bought an upright freezer the week after Thanksgiving and it was finally delivered on Thursday. We decided to buy the biggest one we could get since we always seem to be running out of freezer space. We already have our “Venison” drawer filled!

We finally got back to work on Saturday. Chris worked on the drywall in the half bathroom – we are looking forward to finally having it complete. Because we have to match up drywall to plaster walls, it requires quite a few coats of drywall compound.

I started working on one of the dressers that has been waiting to be re-finished. This was given to us by our next door neighbors and needed some work. I started stripping the polyurethane off and then sanding off the stain. The dresser top needs to be fixed and it will probably have to wait for a little while.

We became parents again on Sunday. We were planning on adopting another greyhound when the house main level was mostly finished. Since we’re to that point, we decided to make that leap now. We drove north of Baltimore to meet and pick up our newest addition to the Skocik family.

His racing name was Patch but we don’t think it fits him so we’re trying to think of a better (more fitting) name. He is just as lazy as Tucker but also spent a lot of time sniffing everything in the house. He has some issues with stairs and the basement that we’ll have to work on.

He is a very big boy (about 85 lbs) and has enormous feet. Fortunately, Tucker and the new dog are getting along very well.

Hopefully we’ll be able to get a lot more accomplished this week!
